When it comes to first aid situations and minor aches and pains, there are times when we would prefer to opt for a natural remedy to alleviate our discomfort. Sometimes this just isn’t possible due to the fact that we simply do not have the right tools on hand. I realized that friends and family, who often come to me for natural tips and remedies, are not able to put them into practice simply because they do not have any natural alternatives in their medicine cabinet. For this reason, I have made a list of my own personal natural remedy essentials that I keep on hand at all times in my medicine cabinet and in my pantry. Start building it slowly, picking up a couple of things from the list at a time, learn how and when to use them and go from there!

Arnica gel or pellets for bruisesI use this for bumps and bruises as well as for sore muscles after over exertion. You can apply the gel to the affected area or can dilute a couple of arnica pellets in water and drink up. You can purchase arnica pellets at boutique avril in brossards

This is my go to remedy for indigestion caused by over-indulgence. It can also be used in case of alcohol over-indulgence aka the common hangover.

Tea Tree essential oil
Essential oils are such great tools to have on hand. Tea tree oil is very versatile as it has various properties. It is considered an anti-infection, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and so many uses that I always keep it handy. I’ve used as an inhalation when suffering from a respiratory infection. It’s also works to clean small cuts and wounds and is a great anti-inflamatory.

Lavender essential oil
Another oil that can come in handy. It is best known for its calming properties, and is one that I like to use if I am having trouble sleeping. I will simply sprinkle a few drops on my pillow and it works like a charm. Another use I give it is in case of headache, I will dilute it in a carrier oil and gently massage my temples. Since headaches are most commonly caused by tension, this is a great option to help relieve the pain.

Peppermint essential oil
This one is truly essential for its many properties. It is considered very energizing so I use it to stay alert when I need to focus on a particular task for a while. It can also help relieve digestive issues. It has also been known to be effective in case of shock.

Bach Flower Rescue remedy
This one is a blend of five different Bach flower essences which have a calming and stabilizing effect for when dealing with stressful situations. Whether it’s a visit to the dentist, an argument or a the shock of receiving bad news, this one is great to keep in your purse.

Aloe Vera Gel
Relieves pain and inflammation and is helpful for soothing minor burns as it has a cooling effect and antiseptic properties.
