It’s been while since I’ve stopped using those store bought air fresheners for my car. I’m not gonna lie, I kind of miss the delicious (though toxic) smell. I stopped using store bought air fresheners when I realized that my sister, who suffers from motion sickness and allergies, was very sensitive to them and the smell would trigger her symptoms. With this in mind, I spent some time playing around with a few ingredients and essential oils to create my own air freshener. Not only do they smell great but I can also enjoy the benefits of the different aromas. Here are my favorites:

  • A cinnamon stick
  • Grated orange peel

Cool & refreshing:
Fill a small glass jar with baking soda and add

  • 5 drops of lemon essential oil
  • Grated lemon rind

Minty and alert:
For this one, I used a car essential oil diffuser I bought at the health food store

  • Add 5 to 10 drops of peppermint essential oil
