Let’s face it, these harsh winter conditions can be hard. Not too long ago, we even shared with you our DIY lip balm recipe to protect your luscious lips from dryness and cracking. We all need a little help to withstand the cold winter days.
But you are not the only one who is affected by this weather. In fact, there’s a beloved a member of your family that could be going through some hard times too. You know who we’re talking about, right? Your best friend ? Your confidant ? Your loyal companion ? Your fur-baby of course!! 🐶
We all know that with the snowfall comes the salt and other de-icer agents all of which can be extremely harsh on your pet’s paws. They can cause irritation, cuts and abrasions. Therefore, we’ve come up with a quick DIY paw wax recipe to help you keep your four-legged friend’s paws healthy.
Take a look at our quick and easy DIY paw balm recipe!
What you will need:
- 1 tbsp of bees wax
- 1 tbsp of shea butter
- 2 tbsp of coconut oil
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
* Gives 170 grams of wax.
- A small pot
- A small container ( a tin can for example)
1. Pour all the ingredients in a double boiler over low heat.
2. Stir the bees wax, the shea butter, the coconut oil and the olive oil continuously.
3. Turn off the heat once all the ingredients have melted.
4. Quickly pour the contents in the tins cans before the mixture hardens.
5. Let it cool down for a few hours.
We would recommend applying a thin layer on your doggy’s delicate paws before taking them out on a well-deserved walk in this winter wonderland. We would also suggest wiping off your dog’s paws after coming back from a walk and applying another layer of wax. This protective balm also works if you like to take your dog on long walks in the summer as it can protect your pooch from gravel by soothing their paws.
So go ahead, give this easy recipe a try!
Trust us, your dog will thank you.
Woof! Woof! 🐕 🐕
